SWL Phase 2, Wembley
Client: McAleer & Rushe Value: £2.7m Design Responsibility: Full Duration: 18 Months
Just a stone's throw away from Wembley Stadium, this contract was a top class performance from our team from design through to installation. We provided 450 complete balcony units that were fabricated and assembled off site and then lifted in to position when the outer building fabric was complete. We designed and supplied the cast-in connection brackets for installation as the building went up and then stored the completed balconies for call off as required.
The full extent of our work is shown here with the completed balconies shown on the largest block. Careful planning and continual communication with our client on the programme requirements meant that we were able to stay ahead of the game.
Once an elevation of the building was released to us, our teams of installers were able to safely connect the balconies from above as they were lifted in to position by the cranes. It was a short process to connect each balcony and then it was just a case of repetition and on to the next balcony. With the vast majority of the work carried out off site, the connection of the balconies was the "easy" bit!
The balustrade design was an increasingly popular vertical flat bar which in this case was fabricated in mild steel. We can also provide aluminium alternatives if the overall balcony weight needs to be reduced.
